February 2026 Newsletter

Dear Friends of Hearts For Street Dogs,

February reminds us that love isn’t just something we say, it’s something we do.

This past month has brought some of the coldest temperatures we’ve seen all winter. While many of us retreat indoors, people living outside and their beloved dogs, have no such option. The wind cuts sharper. The nights last longer. The need continues to grow.

Rising Need This Winter

Because of the extreme weather, we are seeing a sharp increase in requests for:

  • Backpacks filled with winter survival gear

  • Dog food and collapsible bowls

  • Leashes, harnesses, and ID tags

  • Dog coats and booties

  • Blankets and sleeping pads

  • Basic first-aid supplies for people and pets

In the past month alone, requests for backpacks and animal essentials have nearly doubled. Many shelters are at capacity, and outreach teams are stretched thin. For people experiencing homelessness, their dogs are family, often their only consistent source of companionship and protection.

How You Can Continue to Help

Donate to help us purchase bulk dog food, cold-weather gear, and emergency medical supplies. Even $25 helps fill part of a backpack, and $75 can fully equip one person and their dog for winter survival.

We are also currently collecting:

  • New or gently used dog coats (all sizes)

  • Dry and canned dog food

  • Thermal blankets

  • Hand warmers

  • Socks and gloves

  • Durable backpacks

Every donation, share, and word of encouragement helps us continue this lifesaving work.

We are endlessly grateful for your support and belief in our mission.

With heartfelt thanks,

Hearts For Street Dogs Team
